Cupping

Restore your flow, ease your deep-seated tension.

What is cupping?

Cupping is a therapeutic technique that uses controlled suction on the skin to increase circulation, release muscle tension, reduce inflammation.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping is used to move Qi and Blood — often understood as relieving “stagnation,” which may present as pain, tightness, or a sense of heaviness in the body. By restoring movement, the body returns to a more balanced state.

While rooted in traditional practice, cupping is now widely used in modern wellness and sports recovery to relieve tension and support recovery.

Is cupping right for you?

If you’re experiencing muscle tension, stress, or physical fatigue, cupping may be a helpful addition to your care. In many conventional approaches, these concerns are often managed through symptom relief — such as massage therapy, pain medication, or manual treatments.

Cupping takes a different approach. Instead of only relaxing the muscles from the outside, it draws circulation into the area — helping release tension, clear stagnation, and support the body’s natural recovery.

Cupping is safe for most people and can be used on its own or alongside other treatments. If you’re unsure, we’ll guide you during your consultation and recommend the most appropriate approach for your needs.

at Shaun’s Zen

1. Consultation (15-30min)

Your visit begins with a conversation about what you've been experiencing — whether that's tension, soreness, fatigue, or a general sense of heaviness. First visits go a little longer to understand your health history and overall state.

Based on the assessment, your practitioner will recommend a treatment plan and whether cupping is the right approach for you.

2. Cupping Treatment (60min)
You'll rest comfortably while cups are applied to specific areas — most commonly the back, shoulders, or neck. As the suction takes hold, you may feel a gentle pulling sensation. Most people find it deeply relieving. Any temporary marks left on the skin usually fade within a few days.
